SET APART
A podcast that combines Eastern and Western teaching/story from the scriptures to regain our WHY in God. The purpose of this show is to break down the severe disconnect in today's Church vs how God has called for this life to be lived.. We do this through the scriptures and our guest's stories with each episode.
The American Church teaches an extremely one sided evident driven view of the scriptures. In that danger you lose the poetry and art of story telling to where there is only half truths left. No wonder people are walking away from Christianity by the masses.
These eastern authors intended much more for our hearts with their writings that God inspired. Watch as these ancient truths give you a new/refreshing perspective that will change the way you live. Getting back to the Garden.

Ep.11: Name Calling
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Tyler and Will go through the story of the Gentile woman from Mark 7. Taking on the veiw of saved people of God determing who is worthy to who is subhuman and the tragedy of christians still doing this today. Jesus resorts to name calling at the woman who he was then shocked to learn from and with her knowledge of the scriptures.
And we're back. Tyler Griffin, Will the Host, set apart podcast. Fun fact of the day snails breathe through their feet. Good to see you. What's up, dude? What's up, dude?
SPEAKER_02It has been a minute. Hello, everybody. Nah, it's not for that long. The tens of tens. Don't bring it up. Oh, I'm gonna bring it up.
SPEAKER_00Don't do that.
SPEAKER_02Uh uh, hold on. The snail. Sorry. Doe, yeah, the snail. Not feet. Breathes out of its foot. It only doesn't have two feet.
SPEAKER_00How does it what what what's what does a snail have? A foot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's one long strand. And so it's called a foot. It is called just a foot.
SPEAKER_00That's weird.
SPEAKER_02Um, it is weird, and I'm thankful for the weird. Uh, but it is incredible to be back. Um, a lot of craziness. I mean, who doesn't have craziness in their life? If you don't have craziness in your life and you just have boring methodical routine, which I'm not saying isn't a part of the equation, allow it to be, but where's the adventure? All right, anyways. Uh yeah, the past two months in been working hard, both of us uh grinding on a lot of things. Who man who isn't saying that kind of a stuff? Everyone says that. Um, yeah, my health has been a little bit up and down. And so in June, I had two seizures, and you know, I'm pretty sure everyone who listens to this knows my health story of been battling brain cancer. And so I got my license suspended. And my that was a doctor choice, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, legitimately spended suspended.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, I mean, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. By health reasons, yeah. And so reported to the DMV, so I can't drive. Yeah, oh yeah. Oh you get reported by law, and that makes sense, I guess. I cannot drive till Christmas. So there's that.
SPEAKER_00It's a nice Christmas present.
SPEAKER_02And it's just been hard to to get back and to get around. Uh we we don't live far from each other, but we could live kind of far, whatever. And but we are back and excited. Uh it's been a fun summer, good summer. Uh it's been a hot summer.
SPEAKER_00That's this is another fun fact. It was 87 outside today. Yeah. Immediately, of course, asked what does it feel like? Because it does not feel like 87.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00So we both guessed 93. And in fact, it felt like 100 degrees.
SPEAKER_02And it's like, it's there's that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I wanted to immediately go jump in, go jump in the pool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But uh so thankful for the people who have been encouraging us to get back onto the podcast. And I've had a handful of people talk to me about it, and the it really that really stirs my affection and joy. Um, it yeah, it's because it's a type of validation, it's a type of good job in a way. Uh, or or it's a type of, no, we want to you guys to get on there to make fun of you. No, I'm kidding. But yeah, I want to talk about that in a sense of being more honest on that. Feels good. That feels good for my heart, feels good for your heart. Um, and I think the more that people are able to know what to do with uh compliments and praise. And I talked about recently with some people like that the the tomb is empty, like we've been enabled and freed to praise one another. Um, but that that's really hard to do when you're taught to well make sure that you're okay first and then go, Of course, I'm gonna praise everybody else. Uh that's just not the algorithm that is going to set you free. So uh thank you for the ones who are have been encouraging us. Hey, get some episodes out, get some episodes out. Uh, and we are. And so today, yesterday, we are continuing with the book of Mark. And the first of three episodes of Set Apart was to go over Genesis, uh, the first three chapters of Genesis and why we do this and the operational events and wiring, if there is such, of God within those three chapters um, unconditional acceptance of chapter one, you're like creation story? Yeah, go look, please go listen to it. Um, how to be a human. When was the last time that you were a human? It's like, what? I thought I was just assumptively a human. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Because then chapter three, you have a walking, talking snake that America and the Western Christianity do not know how to address because we just go linear with everything, expository, line by line. I hope I can know how to live this week. And just give me the seven ways on how to live. Just give me the three-point sermon. Uh uh uh just give me maybe I'll wake up earlier and earlier for my devo so I know what to answer to somebody when they ask me, How are you doing? And I can give them some spiritual evidence that I'm close to God so that I don't know what happens, that you're not exposed, that so that you don't have to talk about whateverness, because it feels like no one knows how to talk about good things right now, and no one knows how to talk about bad things right now, because I don't believe majority of the West, I'm because that's where I'm from, okay, knows how to be a human. And if you want to know what I'm even talking about with that, go listen to uh episode well, that's like episode three. How to be human.
SPEAKER_00How to be human, how to how too human, how too human, how to human.
SPEAKER_02And then um the next episode, chapter three of Genesis, is the blessed curse. Who put the curse on us? God, and we have a horrible relationship with the curse when we hear that word. Um so, and then taking that because it's an introduction of an Eastern lens, he mosaic Hebrew lens, uh, with the Western lens. And we're throwing that together to try to get as much of an objective view of how to have spiritual formation and walk accurately with Christ. That is a that oh my goodness, that matters. Uh, so a lot of people hear this as having both hands at the piano or um not just looking at the scriptures through the drive-through window and allowing the Holy Spirit to take you around the whole building, and you're like, whoa, there's an entire inside and looking through other windows and allowing the color to fill. And everything that you hear on this podcast is already been said, and we plagiarize what the Bible has is trying, what God is trying to get the West to wake up to. But we have generations filled in the West who are just okay with being saved, if they're even saved accurately, if they even have saving faith. And we've made quite the claim here that God is waiting for my great-grandparents' generation, I'm 36, uh, my grandparents' generation, my parents' generation, my generation, Will and I's generation, uh, the 20-year-old's generation to die and pass away. Sorry if that's a tough thing to hear. Why? So we can actually partner. And I believe the seventh graders right now and the freshmen in college are a generation that's capturing his eyes right now. And they're like, mm, because these ones that are coming up have fire, they ask questions, they have the most access, and they don't just go with the BS answers that the older people give. They don't, and they don't like give respect where it's not on due at all. They'll honor, but they won't respect if the if if you're not deserving of it, and you're no one's owed it. Um, and so God's looking for those types, and that is not any of our generations. We've already lost that window.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, even going back to Genesis 1, I was telling somebody last night that I've, you know, I've said this on the church, I've said this on the podcast before, but I've grown grown up in church, done this for 30 years, and I had never heard Genesis one that way before. And it was during a time in my life where I was trying really hard to figure out what God actually thought about me because for for so long I was in this state of, oh, I've got to do more, I've got to be more, I've got to, I have to prove more, I have got to evidence more. And when we came across Genesis 1, when you told me about it, I was it was almost even hard to believe that God just feels this way about me.
SPEAKER_02And and there's a reason why he was talking like this.
SPEAKER_00But it wasn't hard to believe at the same time, right?
SPEAKER_02And there's a reason why Will's talking like this and not giving all of the details of it of Genesis 1, because if we did just go back into that, that's us being extremely Western filled right away. Because all of the writers of the Bible, except for Luke, learned and wrote in a way through discovery, not absoluteness. Absoluteness was a part of their priority, but maybe the fourth or fifth way to get to truth. But they believed you got to wrestle, you got to go on an adventure, you got to go on a confusing discovery to get to the to the truth. They thought it was more accurate like that. That is not how we are conditioned here. If you just don't, we are conditioned to one plus one is two. How many twos can you get out? We got a test on Friday. And then that just gets you to memorize things, and then you never have comprehension, and you don't know how to ask questions, and then you're just another just actor, robot, pretentious whatever-ness saying, I need to wait on God, and then you're falsely waiting, and then the living word isn't good enough because you're you're thinking you got to hear God, and you getting reading your Bible out loud isn't good enough on you. That is you hearing God. And so it's this horrible way where we've allowed behavior modification, saying, I need to behave my way back to God, instead of Genesis one of unconditional acceptance and and showing God has accepted you and it doesn't matter about your background, and that's a big deal because of the in and I'll get well, okay. I'll give one hint of of what Genesis one really is. It's the evening morning. Okay, if you get that, go understand that the evening morning and why that is there and inverted from what we do morning and evening. That's weird. Go do that. Okay, gosh, it's good to be back.
SPEAKER_00Good to hear you, bud. It's what's up, buddy? What's up, dude?
SPEAKER_02What's up, dude?
SPEAKER_00Mark seven.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Mark 7. So, so after we did the three chapters of Genesis, we then because we're such a New Testament country, and uh yeah, it was all translated in the Greek, supposedly. We're finding more and more evidence that it was chunks of it, massive, all of it was in the Hebrew, um, not all of it, uh, but especially the gospels. So you have Matthew, we we took we we've talked about you do not synchronize the gospels, you allow each one to have its own agenda, and that's important for today. Uh, you have Matthew, a Jew writing to Jews, Mark is a Jew writing to Rome, America. Uh, Luke is a volume writer, a linear writer of all of the story of Jesus. And then you have John, the Jew writing to the grafted in. Meaning uh uh the the saved Gentiles, the saved Jews, right? And so it's a very John's a very different writing compared to the rest of the gospels. Allow them and honor them to be their own, to be their own. Don't try to do this evidential thing, what we do over here to try and prove the existence of something. That's not the point. When you start doing that, you start doing your own operations, your own algorithm that God does not do. So no wonder lives look the way that they do. No wonder people get bored with the Bible, no wonder people are their own gods, but they'll never say that out loud. No one will audibly say that out loud. Um, so why we're doing the book of Mark and we're on Mark chapter seven today, we've gone through six chapters uh because one big reason Mark is the shortest book of the gospels, and it's the big reason why Mark had to make his book short because he knows the Gentile Western culture has a short attention span. He knows that there's a day coming that someone's not going to listen more than a minute. He knows that reels and doom scrolling is going to impact the the attention goldfish mindset of the human, aka the beast, who needs to be come back and be a human. And so he's like, I man, I know who I'm writing to. I gotta shorten this up. And we've talked about at the beginning of Mark how that's that should be an insult, by the way. You you should get a competitive drive in you being like, no, that ain't me. That's I don't want God to think of me like that. I don't want I don't want a holy disciple who has walked messed up. He's messed up for sure, didn't know how to write or read probably for the longest time. And and but he he knows the conditionality of where we're at. And so uh a line that we like to say is uh we let the text be the context again to form spiritual accurate spiritual formation, and then uh also uh we say this is to them, to the people of that time, but for us in 2026. Meaning, whatever is said there, because we are grafted into the family of God, so so whatever an old testament story means of that time is also meaning for you. So there is no, well, that's not for me. Yes, it is, and and also there is no, well, I would never do that. My goodness. Yes, you would. We talk about a very we've we've talked about total depravity in here. Yes, that is a reformed uh uh verbiage. Uh, it is very important to realize we were all born into sin, and we were all born that we could do the most heinous acts, and that's why we needed a savior. And so uh people are like, Well, I would never do that to a school, I would never be the school shirt. Yes, you absolutely would. You absolutely would. You'd pull the trigger, so would I, and that's why Jesus Christ, I that's why what happened needed to happen. God stepping out of heaven and becoming flesh. And so Mark is trying to tell Rome this man, there's a freedom here. Okay, so enough context?
SPEAKER_00Enough context.
SPEAKER_02We don't do the whole chapter, uh, so we kind of just take a part of it because we also recognize who we're talking to, and we want people to listen as much as possible. Uh, and so we are doing we we pick out uh from one to two stories. Today we're just doing one story, uh, the Gentile woman uh approaching Christ and Jesus kind of acting weird. This story is also in the other gospels that's told kind of differently because of the agendas. Okay, tell us where we're at.
SPEAKER_00Mark seven, verse twenty-four through thirty-nine through thirty, sorry. Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyra. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it, yet he could not keep his presence secret. In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an by an impure spirit came and fell at his feet. The woman was a Greek, born in Syria and Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter. First let the children eat all they want, he told her, for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs. Lord, she replied, even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs. Then he told her, For such a reply you may go. The demon has left your daughter. She went home and found her child lying on the bed and the demon gone.
SPEAKER_02Okay, incredible. What an incredible story, right? Uh, and but what a weird story. And that's what we do. While we let the text be the context, we encourage people to ask what stands out, what's weird? Think Bible. Marty Solomon is a great teacher of the text, and he introduced at least to my knowledge, he introduces a uh a thought process of think Bible. And we're just not taught that in the West. We're just taught to maybe ask one or two questions, and well, it's the Bible, so just accept it. Yeah, and this story stands out drastically, and and it's a little more, I think, severe by Christ in Matthew. But what do you think?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I think it comes up to always just believe the Bible, just believe it. And then I I would always follow up the question, but believe what? I don't know what what is what is there to believe.
SPEAKER_02But no one's saying that audibly. No, everyone's feeling that. What you just said, everybody feels that, but nobody is saying it audibly. So then what starts happening? You you you you try to behave better, you try to read your Bible more, you try to listen to worship music more, you try to not cuss, you try to do all these behavior things, and yet you're still laying down at night and saying, I don't get this. And you get the eight hours of sleep, and you wake up and you try to do everything again, and you're like, I don't feel this whole thing. And it's not about the feeling, it's not about what how you determine the whole thing, thankfully, and we have a poor relationship with that on when when we don't get something. When the people back in the day didn't understand something, they had such a great relationship with confusion and tension that they would just throw their chair in, and we've talked about this, and they did a dance because they're like, What I'm confused about right now in my life, whether it's about the Bible or my my relationship with my girlfriend or boyfriend or husband or wife, or the children or not having children, or whatever. God is going to use this, whether it's suffering, confusion. I don't care. He's gonna use this for my story. And so that that needs to happen with the whenever you're trying to understand God within the text or walking to the coffee shop, or you're in a horrible situation, a storm in your life, or you're at the highest mountaintop. We need to have an unbelievable relationship with the unknown. With the unknown. What that looks like is wake up every day with your hands open. Because if you do not, we're gonna start determining and labeling things with in a type of way that we're not designed to do. We can't handle that pressure. Well, what type of pressure? Uh pressure that crushes, not in a full home run swing type of way in one day. It's it's like a compound interest, it will happen inch by inch. Then all of a sudden, you will wake up at a place and you're like, How in the heck did I get here? So, uh, what type of woman is this?
SPEAKER_00Assyrian Phoenician.
SPEAKER_02Right?
SPEAKER_00And which is it's very odd about how specific where she's from.
SPEAKER_02It is odd.
SPEAKER_00It's odd also that it goes into where Jesus is at the time.
SPEAKER_02That that is odd because what is it trying to he it? What does the text say? He's trying to do what is Jesus' motivation in this area.
SPEAKER_00He had just talked to the Pharisees right and he's probably before this, and he's tired, tired of it.
SPEAKER_02He's tired, man. And and I we get this because we believe what we're doing on this podcast and what we try to do, what what Will and I try to do on Sunday mornings is not happening, happening in 99.9% of churches in America. I just talked to somebody at the coffee shop that I walk to almost every day. She's like, Well, try. I was explaining this, what we do, and she's like, I've never heard the scriptures in this. And of course, as this whole story of church, bloody bloody blah. And she was like, Well, compare it to something that is happening. And I was like, Ah, she was like, Yeah, I don't, I haven't heard this in type of churches, and I know a lot of churches that go on out in America. And so what's interesting here is when we try to talk about people about this whole unconditional acceptance by God with. Genesis 1, and that it doesn't matter how many bricks you produce. And start in Genesis 1 before you start in Genesis 3. Start with uh the unconditional, you know, heart transformation before behavior modification. But in the West, we have behavior modification before heart transformation. So no wonder people are at most slightly feeling stirred by God, but where are they geographically? In Egypt, spiritually, sorry, spiritually, they're they're they're in the empire preaching a false gospel to themselves as being quoted freed. And you're not free at all. You look stuck. Not only that, you look tired. And so Jesus is trying to talk to these people about true freedom, what it looks like. And and every all these Pharisees have an answer for everything. Yeah, you have an answer for everything. What is that a reflection of? You don't want to hear the true answer, you don't want to surrender. Why? Because it's gonna expose you. And what does exposing feel like?
SPEAKER_00Lonely.
SPEAKER_02It feels lonely, it feels hurt, it's painful. Accountability is painful, it's painful. And yes, the West has introduced accountability in a very poor way on how we've done accountability with each other as brothers and sisters within the church. Horrible because how we put behavior modification at the top of on how to get to truth. Well, I need to see it. I'm gonna behave, I'm gonna behave, I'm gonna behave. And so Jesus here is trying to find a loan time. And so where does he go, Will? He goes where who's not gonna go.
SPEAKER_00He's gonna go where the Jews are not gonna go.
SPEAKER_02It's not just where the Pharisees are not gonna go, where all Jews are not gonna go to the land of the Gentiles. Us. Will and I are Gentiles, we're Americans, right? So so what is that a reflection of? It is showing the horrificness of where the spiritual heart is of the chosen people of God, the people who claim God as their savior, right? At this time, right, right, right, right, right. It's the same thing that's happening today in 2026. Same thing that's happening today in 2026 with Christians, American Christians. The ones who claim the two the cross and the empty tomb are doing what the Jews are doing today. Well, what or back then? What were they doing? They started secretly, passive aggressively, treating people as subhuman. Well, how do you know this? Look, Jesus knew where to go to get alone time. Because the Jews would never go to this, the these areas. Why? Because you just your existence is lower than mine. Well, Tyler, where is that advertising happening today? Oh, it's not in front of your eyes. We're all just numb to it. We don't know how to go deeper. We don't know how to critically do a self-audit enough to see how this is in our subconscious. We we have no uh so, and then if you are able to do that multifaceted self-audit and then see it corporately, how we're doing this subhuman thing on Sunday mornings, and then you'll go back to you'll see why God is waiting for all these generations to leave in the West to maybe partner with the West for the first time. And and see why John Adams, one of our founding fathers, says we stop calling this nation a Christian nation. We have Christian principles, but we are uh the furthest away from an actual partner with God. Christian nation. So there's that element right there of the beginning of Mark. Why is Jesus in this area and where have we heard this area before? Start thinking of that. I've heard of this area, start thinking Old Testament a little bit because everything is in these stories on purpose. The the the paralyzed man, 38 years when he was waiting. Who else was waiting for 38 years?
SPEAKER_00The people of God in the wilderness.
SPEAKER_02Interesting, interesting, everybody. Both hands of the piano, the history doesn't repeat, it rhymes for greater, greater, greater good. Do you want to be a part of that good? Because God does not operate in the zap. Oh, now everything's growing. He God uses God's people to meet God's people's needs. Are you one of those people? Or are you one of those people that God's trying to go find alone time away from and doesn't want to hear from you anymore? Kind of a thing. Man, does oh would God ever treat me like yeah, man. Never rarely, I don't know, of one time, a whole lot of times, that God in the Old Testament blames the devil for the condition of the people of God. He blames the people of God. No one's coming to save you from who? You. So a big thing that's happening right now in Christianity is Christian community is looking like tribalism. And those Christian groups, here's what happens, because you just let time expose them. Let time expose them because they're not going to listen to you. And if you're a part of one of those groups and you're seeing it, repent and amend. Repentance and amending are married to each other. And get ready, because again, right? The Pharisees didn't want to hear this stuff of what true freedom is. And so if you let time expose the tribalistic groups, they are going to start eating themselves, and they already are. We will and I see it all over the place. Okay. So where do we have Jesus? We have Jesus in an area where the chosen people could do not go. Where today's Christians, yeah, we kind of go there just to kind of oh bring some help. And then we'll come back next year in a few months or whatever, whenever the next serve event is. Oh, those the that region of people. Okay. Anyways.
SPEAKER_00So now, so now we have the place, Tyra.
SPEAKER_01Interesting.
SPEAKER_00We have a woman.
SPEAKER_01Interesting.
SPEAKER_00We have him entering a house.
SPEAKER_01Interesting.
SPEAKER_00Because he did not want anyone to know he was there.
SPEAKER_01Interesting.
SPEAKER_00We have um the specific on who she was. Yep. I feel like that's very to Mark, though. And then we have uh Jesus calling somebody area, some people in this area dogs. Yep. After first saying, first let the children eat all they want. Um, and then it comes into the woman's reply.
SPEAKER_02So we we is the woman a part of the chosen people of God? No, she is she is not.
SPEAKER_00She's a Greek. She is a Greek.
SPEAKER_02She's a Greek. So so this is incredible. What does Jesus call her? A dog. A dog. In that time, is this a derogatory term? Not really. Absolutely not. Because in the Old Testament, outsiders, you know, what like Ezekiel, the prophet Ezekiel was all about this. He used animals all the time, and he used the people of God, us Christians, as you were the tree, and you need to be a refuge for the birds and and the dogs and all the creatures of life to find refuge and safety. So there's a there's a question Are you a tree that people can find refuge on? Um, okay, so Jesus saying dog here, the woman's not like moved by that. She's not like, oh how mean of you. Yeah, that hurt my feelings. She knows culturally, she's like, oh, that's just how that's how I talk, that's how everyone talks. That's you know, we're two different groups here. But what is she doing? She's saying something interesting. Jesus is saying, hey, in Matthew, it's in Matthew 15, it explains a little, like he says something a little more um because uh Matthew's writing to a different group here. He's writing to the Jews who are thinking these people, me and Will, the listener here, uh, are subhuman, right? They're determining our value that only God can raise and lower, but they're saying they are the ones to do it. So Jesus is saying, hey, you guys are actually kind of getting it. The unbelievers are getting it better than the ones who are supposed to be helping you, who are supposed to be the trees. Sound about right? Have you guys ever come across where it seems like the people who don't believe in Jesus are actually getting the walk more than the people of Christ are? Because that's what Will and I were talking about the whole day of like all the beginning of this. We couldn't believe on on we were just moved by we and we were naming people of like man, they don't even they don't even advertise outwardly claim God or all this stuff, but yet they know the story better. And so Jesus is saying that, Jesus is saying that with the woman and saying, Hey, you know, and this is an interesting thing because Jesus is God and man. So he's fully God and fully man. And this is an interesting thing here. Because when your rabbi preaches his first message, he acts it out to make sure you're not following a rabbi, and then he has you go do what he's talking about. So remember here, you have the he quotes the text. What story is he quoting? Who else do we have? Uh uh the very first rabbi, very first master, and we have a woman, and they're in the same area. Yeah, the very first, the very first master is uh Elijah. Elijah. And he's in the same exact city, the same geographic area, as and he's tired, starvation has happened over the people of Israel, and here comes a gentile woman. God tells him to stop the gentile woman and ask him for what is he asking for?
SPEAKER_00Bread.
SPEAKER_02Bread. And she's like, I only have enough for my son and I, and this is what we were planning on to use, and then die out. And then she was, and then she and he and then Elijah says anyway, don't worry. Yeah, you're you if you I you won't run out. God will say, God will save you if you if please, she's like, please come in, a gentile woman, and it makes enough for all of the drought and famine that happens because of how she took care of Elijah, Elijah, and she called him, and that's where the first story of master comes from. And what what title comes from from the word master? Teacher and rabbi. Yes, and then so Jesus responds to the Gentile woman, says, I'm here for the children of Israel who are not doing this well. Well, I'm here for the Christians of 2026 who are not doing this well. And and what does the woman say? Read what the woman says back to him.
SPEAKER_00Even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs.
SPEAKER_02From the master's table.
SPEAKER_00From the master's table, yeah.
SPEAKER_02From the master's, the master's table. Then that that's the part out of Matthew. She says that in Matthew 15. So her saying the word what? Master tells us what? What does that tell us?
SPEAKER_00It means that she knows the story of Elijah of Elijah and the woman, and the woman, and the bread, and this is what Jesus is saying.
SPEAKER_02Woman of faith, great one. It says it in different whatever, but he loses it. But if he's fully God, why is he so surprised? Because this is showing us something here. Jesus is also still learning, still learning, because that's what we all have. We're still learning, we're fully human. And what how does that back us up with the evidence? What happens in the next paragraph to chapter? He feeds how many people in Mark?
SPEAKER_00And Matthew.
SPEAKER_02I'm sorry, Matthew. He feeds 4,000. 4,000 people representing the Gentiles. Representing 4 represents in the Bible the number of the Gentiles. When he feeds 5,000, that's the five is represented the number of the Jews out of the of the book of Moses. Yeah. And so what an incredible event that you have here. In Mark 8, you have the he feeds the 4,000. So these are the feeding there's the two separate events. Who does he feed first? He feeds the Jews. Feeds the Jews because he believes they are more sick than the people who are not the chosen people of God. And then all of a sudden, he's like, Maybe I am here for the Gentiles. Also, maybe this isn't the true now for everybody that needs to hear this message. Unbelievable. An unbelievable movement. And it's and it also goes at you never know. I was talking with an ex-atheist last night, and and how much he's knew the story during his atheism. You never know who you come across who is because you ask anybody, like on the atheist side of things, ask him, do you hope that you're wrong or right about what you believe in? And that's an interesting question for them. And so that it just is a greater reflection. This story is a greater reflection on you, you there is such a design, and a the soul wants nothing to do with the creature that it's in, and everything to do with its creator. This gentile woman who has been treated as a subhuman can't come to certain parts of the of land because of how people treat her. She uh one, how the world treats women, and she's still she's like, Hey, I I I know that you're you're here for them, but we serve the same God. We're part of the same thing, and I need you. You're the Messiah, you're the savior of my life. I need you. And Jesus, like, this is it. This is the point of Genesis 1 and 2, because we all agree before the fracture, there was a way to how to do this. And Jesus came onto the scene to say, Hey, we can do this. You don't have to wait for heaven to do this. You don't there is a way to do this now, to where you can get back to walking in the garden, living in the world of the fractured world of Genesis 1 and 2, and never having to go into Genesis 3 through revelation. There's a way to do this now. And yet people are so addicted to the victimhood, they're so addicted to the fear that they don't want it. They know that this is the way, they know that there's so much self-belief waiting for them, but they don't, it's it's so much more of a dopamine hit to not go after that, to not know the true story, which means that you want your circumstances to define how things are going for you. You want to be movable. No one would ever admit this out loud. You only know this on the inner part of you, right? But this story right here shows an incredible thing of Jesus. And Jesus still learning magnifies the atonement, by the way, the sacrifice that he does. It doesn't delete the deity, the godship of him. He's still fully God and fully human. This is a it shows so much of how he doesn't wear the God goggles to make sure he goes through the suffering of this life so that none of us, none of us, and I'm battling to stay healed from stage four brain cancer, none of us take our suffering. Whether it's voluntary or involuntary, whether we caused it or didn't cause it, none of us are owed or have a right to say a damn thing about it. Because Jesus has gone through way more than any of us ever will. And he gave us a way out. You can do this. You can do this. He didn't have the angels come down, he didn't have anybody take him out. He he he felt it all. He felt confusion, he felt tired. He felt, I'm trying to go be alone, but someone else is trying to, someone else needs me. But then he felt felt the surprise and the goodness of like, oh, so maybe people are getting this story. Maybe people do want my father. Because remember in Luke 18, he says, when I come back back for the second time, and does anybody, is anybody gonna want this? And and yeah, because that's what I feel of today, of 2026 with American Christianity. Does anybody want this? Or do we all just want to go to church to maybe find my spouse, find the friends, network for a job? Um, hopefully something bad happens to me so I can just feel something, uh, have kids so I can feel something. Oh, now I'm complaining about the kids, now I'm complaining about the companionship because I always knew there was a greater problem within me of contentment, that God's not actually enough. I have a God complex that I didn't know is greater rooted in me, the generational curses, generational strongholds that I don't want to break, I don't want to face. Um, yeah, welcome back. So that's all I got.
SPEAKER_00It is that meme of I do I do X to feel something.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yo, that's why people do bad things. We're bored, bored, bored, bored. That's not why bad things happen to good people. Stupid question. Don't don't do it. Um okay, Matthew 7. That was great. Gentile woman. Good talk, dude.
SPEAKER_00Can I price out? Yeah, let's do it. Father God, see to the highest place in heaven. We thank you. We love you for who you are, for what you've done. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to show us how to do this life. Um thank you, Jesus, for going through all of it for us. Because you wanted to show us how to do this, to show us who we could be. Thank you for that. I pray for all of the ears that are listening to this. Um, that you will be in their life, that they that their hearts are transformed, that after their hearts are transformed, they take your word and they do what it says for their good and more importantly for your for for your good and your grace. Thank you again. Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
